Welcome to countrysideprints.co.uk the web site of author John Bailey where images of my work can be purchased either as a downloaded image or a print. The images can be made available for commercial or personal use on web sites, publications, calendars, cards etc. I began taking photographs over 35 years ago when I first discovered my passion for the great outdoors. My first book Portrait of Skye was published in 2009. My second book The Mendip Hills was published June 2010.

Having first hand knowledge of the areas that I specialise in is most paramount these being the Isle of Skye lying off the North West coast of Scotland. Skye is the largest of The Inner Hebrides and boasts a spectacular, rugged coastline of some 360 miles. Nowhere on Skye are you more than five miles from the sea as the coastline is punctuated by more than a dozen long sea lochs.

The Lleyn Peninsula North Wales extending some 30 miles south west into the Irish Sea the Llưn as it is locally known is a picturesque landscape of beautiful fishing villages and historic towns, an abundance of small farms and a patchworks of enclosed fields. No more than 8 miles wide giving easy access to the contrasting north and south coasts. Designated an area of outstanding natural beauty in 1956.

The Mendip Hills an upland region of unspoilt villages, quiet country lanes, valleys and spectacular gorges. The hills rise abruptly from the Somerset Levels soon to reach the highest point at Beacon Batch, Black Down 1068 feet above sea level. The limestone ridge continues eastward where the limestone grasslands and exposed rocks steadily give way to the more gentle landscape of the winding lanes and wooded valleys of eastern Mendip.
